A Tragedy

I know many of my readers won’t know who I am taking about, and I don’t actually expect any of you to read this fully. But one of my favorite teachers from middle and high school, Guy Dobies, passed away yesterday to reasons unknown.

Let me explain Dobies. He was one of those amazing quirky teacher that almost everyone loved. The first (and second) time I had him as an instructor was for middle school Tech. That class had 4 parts: Drafting, Robotics, Car Design, and CAD. This is actually the class that instilled my fear of robots in me. But I loved it so much, I took it a second time.

In high school, I tool all three CAD classes he offered. And would have gladly taken more if he offered them. Then I graduated and I thought all the good experiences I had with him were gone.

Now, we skip ahead 4 years, and my little sister has him as an instructor for web-design. And I was happy that she got to experience this amazing instructor who would literally out of his way to help students better understand a subject.

Fast forward another 10 and a half months. Now my sister is telling me this would be Dobies’ last year teaching, he would be retiring. This news made me incredibly sad.

So, one again fast forward, this time, a month. It is 307 pm when my mom calls to tell me the news. I am speechless. This amazing teacher, who just retired and didn’t even gt to enjoy it, passed away yesterday for reasons unknown.

So, I say this: Guy Dobies, may you forever rest in peace. You will be greatly missed.

Edit: I now know that the death was most likely caused by a heart attack. My apologies, but when I got the notification the exact cause was still unknown.

yea man this is definitely tragic to hear about, sweaty texted me while i was at work today to let me know. anyone who was lucky enough to have had him as a teacher or just know him in general will be affected by it. he was definitely a great person to know and i know i will miss him for sure and im sure most others will too.

    • Yeah it is. I mean I loved the guy, he was a great teacher. I was at work when I got the call and I just could not believe it. I’m going to miss him terribly. Actually there is a local viewing for him Sunday that I will be heading to. Then the actual memorial service will be in Novi. If this wasn’t such an awkward time, I wouldn’t feel so ashamed of asking how you know about this?
