So this isn’t merely a LuzOb post… but a Luz and Grim post!

also most likely the only text-only Drunk Post… because Mr. Fail is not here…

So yeah…

We like Odin… just sayin’…

Say something deep Grim…………….

Grim here…

May we live our lives forever by the honor and sacrifice of our ancestors, and may the gods always look upon us and smile, for we carry on their names evermore in a world that looks upon our faith with indifference. Praise Tyr for his sacrifice, Praise Thor for protecting Midgard with mighty Mjolnir, and Hail Odin in his infinite wisdom.

Luz back… so there you go… apparently Grim is much more articulate when not exactly sober… also we now have an official toast as well!

Steak when you are hungry
Mead when you are dry
Love when you are lonely
Valhalla when you die!

Honestly I stole that from an old Irish drinkin toast, but fuck ’em…

Grim wants some drinking toast now…

POWDER TOAST MAAAAAAAN!

okay.. focus focus…

uhm…

we’ve also standardized our Futhark Runic system… which i accidentally called “futherk”…. sorry Odin…

aaaaaaaaanyway….  Here’s Grim…

bEER IS gOOD, bEER IS nICE

sHOW ME bEER, i’LL dRINK IT tWICE… OR tHRICE… oR qUADRICE…

iM DRUNK.

Hey guys, I’m not sure why this was never posted, although there is several authors who could have posted this particular story.Viking longship

So, I will tell it. At least as well as my fading memory will allow me to. If I am missing something, I apologize, but perhaps LuzOb, Drezirale, or Ullersson could fill in the blanks, they were there as well.

I don’t remember the date, and even to attempt to give one would be an insult to all of you, I do know it was a warm night in June or July (another reason some of my memories are fading).

But first, go ahead and click play on the song below and continue reading.

The plans had been made, LuzOb and Ullersson were going to meet for drink, cigars, and all the festivities that go along with those. And that is were the story begins. Soon after Drezirale joined the party.

I have compiled a number of pictures of my relatively impressive arsenal of weapons and armor, given my young age of just 19 years. It has taken me a long time to accumulate these things, some of which are almost 100 years old, or older. I would like to begin by saying that the only way to truly be safe with firearms is to know how to use them. NEVER, I repeat NEVER use a firearm without the express permission of it’s owner and the proper instruction in the use of the weapon. It makes no difference whether it’s a shotgun, rifle, handgun, assault rifle, etc. You know that old saying “Guns don’t kill people, people do”? Well who ever came up with that is a moron and obviously never held a firearm. You can be killed by carelessness just as easily as the malice of an attacker. I really do advocate gun safety, and so this article will be my shameless rant on the subject. Please guys, I can’t stress it enough, be smart! Now, for the fun part. (this is the account of a new player character in AYCOoB)

Through a translator, Bjorn told us the story of how he came to us:

We fought as hard as we ever had, but their strength was in numbers. Warriors of the Christ god came in the dark of early morning and began the attack.

I failed them.

I failed to protect my people, and no matter how many of them I struck down with my sword, another of the attackers would take his place. And then I was all that was left, Fighting off a crowd of our assailants. an arrow found it’s way to my back and I fell to my knees. All I could do then was watch as the animals took fire to my village and stole away our women and children. The men they had captured were slaughtered without honor, bloodshed for it’s own sake. I closed my eyes as I felt a darkness suddenly take me and the world went black.
When next I opened my eyes I let out a cry and leapt to where my sword had fallen, but in vain for I was in this strange place with all of you staring at me. And you all speak so strangely to me, and wear such strange clothing. You tell me it has been a thousand years or more since my people lived in this world and these strange objects that make fire and sound are all new to me. I don’t know how I am here with you, but by the sword in my hand and gods on high, I will protect you all until my dying breath. I thank you for watching over me during my time in the darkness.

I will protect you as I could not protect my people and I thank the gods for giving me a chance to redeem myself.

May the gods watch over you

It always seems like there are at least a few people you meet along this journey called life that are what most people would call

Strange

You know, those kids whose parents never told them that they couldn’t wear a cape to school. Well I’m writing this article about the Michigan renaissance festival to tell the world that wearing a cape to school is perfectly okay. Seriously, anyone who has the time to sit there and make their life’s work telling someone else how stupid they look obviously cares way to much about the opinions of others. I know, the title says Renn Fest, but you will see that this preface is perfectly relevant.

My Fiance and I at the Michigan Renaissance Festival

There really aren’t too many things that I enjoy more than putting on my armor, lacing up my boots, strapping a sword on my belt, and slinging my drinking horn over my shoulder to march off to the Michigan Renaissance Festival. I mean come on, what’s not to like about dressing up and acting like a viking (or whichever period character you prefer)?

Normally, my fiance and I hit the MRF at least twice each year, but this year I found myself extremely busy with Ring of Steel (a combat theater group I work with), and so I put it off until the very last day. Funny enough, I don’t remember ever going on the last day before this, and it really brought something to my attention: It all ends too soon. Every weekend, there is a theme, but I don’t think that the theme “sweet endings” properly captures the mood I was in; More like “bitter-sweet endings”. I found myself wishing that the festival was year round, and I came to the realization that there really aren’t enough occasions in the year to don my armor. So what I’m trying to say to all you faithful Fisch Fail readers is don your armor. Dress up for the hell of it, wear a cape to school, but most importantly

Ignore the haters

Because at the end of the day, people forget all too often that your opinion of yourself is the one that matters most.

May the gods watch over you
